Arf! Much obliged.

Re: cockney rejects
Impossible to please everyone and get everything right, so I guess as long as everyone went home happy after loving their own favourite piece of the night, it's a decent job done.

Sorry Nursey, am still on a high from Tuesday, so I'll refrain from telling all about also seeing Alvin Stardust at the Cliffs!! ;o)

Anton, CFC and Harwood, i wondered how they moved the one brain cell between them

Re: cockney rejects
I was in the chicken run right behind them and I had trouble hearing them properly. In end we all just sang Bubbles ourselves.

I did find the bianca Westwood interviews with hardwood, Anton and Cole a hard watch.

There was lots good bits, the brass band, remembering past players that are no longer here, Bobby Moore switching light off.

It was a bit hit and miss but overall decent enough.

Grumpster, could you please refrain from exhibiting enthusiasm about something (in this case, David Essex)?

I find it disconcerting.

Re: cockney rejects
Should have aimed big and asked Iron Maiden to fly in for the night. Steve Harris is Hammer thru and thru... stop the tour down under...... get Bruce to fly back for the send off, and fly back.

Have mentioned it to them about doing OS.... why AC/DC? IM would be a million times better.

Re: cockney rejects
Problem is I would have been upset that it's not the right time of year for him to sing 'A Winters Tale'.

Would have had to go out and smash a coach up myself at the disappointment.

Took my mum to see him in a show at Cliffs and he was unashamedly brilliant. Loved hearing all the classics as have liked him since first listening to War of the Worlds.

I like Stinky Jeff and co but come on... David Essex singing Hold me Close?? That would have been fookin' superb

Re: cockney rejects
Guessing the haters are probably more averse to a nice bit of Coldplay or Travis.

They are everything what West Ham used to be about to many of the people there on Tuesday and represented West Ham with their music.

I mean I like a bit of David Essex sometimes, but for the occasion the Rejects were the perfect band with their lively tunes.

Re: cockney rejects
Embarrassing? Not in the fucking least - a cracking band who can still knock a fucking good tune out.

I said to my lad just as the closing ceremony began, that the only possible band that was gonna be using the kit set up on the pitch was The Rejects, so I was chuffed to fuck, really...

I like the fact that they all trooped in the Stanley afterwards for a few pints.

Like proper West Ham fans.

Fuck the begrudgers!

Re: cockney rejects
Just watched their performance and I think they did us all proud Ok its not Elvis but its definitely West Ham history ala 1980 and the way they sing it takes anyone over 45 back like a time machine.

Brilliant live band, all propa west ham, all you old ladies moaning stick to your fuckin Vera Lynn version of Bubbles

Bromley Reject 12:25 Thu May 12
Re: cockney rejects
Brilliant band, basically invented Oi ! and took punk back from the King's Road poseurs and other idiots who thought it was just about dyeing your hair purple. Still going strong after all these years, long live the Rejects.

Stranded 11:48 Thu May 12
Re: cockney rejects
So you were fine with the cheesy Las Vegas magician flame pots, the eighties disco lightshow, the gormless interviews, the look back over the club’s history that skipped most of its history, and even the toe-curling bollocks with the taxis.

But you thought the Rejects were an embarrassment?

Each to their own.

Re: cockney rejects
West Side is by far their best song for me.... I mean...

Steel cap Dr. Martens and iron bars...
Smash their coaches or do'em
In their cars...

Shits all over Love Me Do for lyrics that....
